The Gathering

黑與白之間，凋零、花謝
白與黑之間，新生、花開
四季流轉，乾坤循環
陰陽相生，圓聚圓滿

時間推著生命前進，從出生直到死亡是條不可逆的必經之旅，在殯葬場域中，我們所面對的就是死亡，如同花開花謝是如此地自然平常，本創作以東方太極陰陽觀念、對天地時節的崇敬，以及客家重要文化桐花、油紙傘所建構而成。

油紙傘的圓形型態傳達生命旅程的圓滿，傘與舖面共構出十二圓，象徵十二個月份，傘面的二十四支傘骨象徵二十四節氣，環環相遞相連，隱含四季更迭，生命流轉的自然循環。
圓中黑白重合相生，在東方輪迴的概念如同陰陽的互補，黑中有白，白中有黑，對立的相生、天地圓融、乾坤循環， 桐花在黑白之間飄散、新生，花開花謝，象徵生命平靜流轉、循迴不止息。

From black to white—the withering lives and the scattering flowers, From white to black—the newborn lives and the blossoming flowers The cycle of seasons, the cycle of life and death, Yin and Yang are born in perfect harmony, just like “The Gathering”.

The journey from birth to death is irreversible just like the flowing of time. In a funeral home, we are faced with death, which is as natural as the blossoming and scattering of a flower. This work is constructed based on the Eastern concept of Tai Chi Yin Yang, the reverence for the world and its seasons, as well as the important Hakka culture of Tung blossoms and oil-paper umbrellas. The circular shape of the umbrella conveys the fullness of life s journey. The umbrellas and the pavement form 12 circles, symbolizing the 12 months of a year. The 24 bones on the surface of the umbrella symbolize the 24 solar terms, which are interconnected, implying the change of seasons and the natural cycle of life. In the circles, black and white coincide with each other. In the East, the concept of “Metempsychosis” is like the complementarity of Yin and Yang. Black within white, white within black, the opposite existence, with the harmonious balance, and the cycle of life and death. The Tung blossoms are scattered and reborn between black and white, and the blossoming and scattering symbolize the peaceful flow of life that never ends.
